The basic mission of the forest hunting range is its management efficiency improvement. This objective was prescribed by the State Program of Game Husbandry Development for 2006 – 2015. To ensure this program implementation self-sufficiency is to be achieved. One of the ways of meeting the stated objectives is to increase the number of wildlife in the husbandry and, consequently, the number of issued hunting licenses. The husbandry is inhabited by the following species at the moment: elk, roe deer, swine, blue hare, brown hare, squirrel, fox, racoon dog, marten, polecat.
Special attention is drawn to hunting areas protection and anti-poaching activities. For this purpose hunting service personnel go on regular raids, including in collaboration with wild life protection inspectorate representatives. Some activities with the population are conducted as well. Hunters are in charge of certain areas where they can hunt and control observance of hunting and order maintenance rules leading to reduction in the number of poaching events and wild life growth.
The Forest Enterprise personnel is proud of its forest hunting range and, in particular, the Hunter’s House, which is situated close to village Kovaltsy of Dzerzhinsk District.
